Where the Cedars Meet the Sea

Trying to find relief from the heat, I took the short ferry over the Lummi Island, drove around the island and settled here to do this painting.  The land mass in the background is Canada.

I've been going out later in the day, after 6pm to paint because of the heat, and to enjoy the beautiful August sunsets.  This is the cove where the boat launch is located for Larrabee State Park off Chuckanut.  It's absolutely beautiful in this spot.  I saw a handful of one and two person power boats come in, mostly from crabbing.  One guy picked up nine of legal size, had to throw two back.  And I saw about a dozen or so kayaks go out to catch the sunset.  Calm waters on the sound.   (The land mass in the background is Anacortes).
