Lake Hodges

Winter at Lake Hodges.  I painted this from a study that I started at the lake but the rain came in so I had to pack up. I used to stick it out when I painted in oil but it's almost impossible with watercolor  because nothing dries and everything runs.  I'm more comfortable with a little more control that that.  ;)
A few sketches from this week. The San Diego Urban sketchers went up to San Juan Capistrano and painted on Los Rios which is across the tracks.
Another from SJC; the train station.
One more from the 'before breakfast file'

On Location

Another (small) painting from the Clydesdale Ranch in Lakeside. A fellow painter was nearby and the sun was hitting the umbrella with such vibrancy.

At the Ranch

Painted with the San Diego Urban Sketchers at a ranch in Lakeside, not just a ranch, more like a living/functional historical site.  This building (I think) is one of the original buildings on the 12 acre ranch.  It was a beautiful place to paint and sketch- we will be returning soon I hope.

Old Poway Park

The first paint out of the year with the San Diego Watercolor Society and it was local - Old Poway Park.  It had been storming for 2 weeks straight but luckily we got a break.

And some sketches from the week.

Stony Brook Village - Hercules

I was back in my home town in late December and caught this beautiful sunset across from the Stony Brook Post Office in the Village.  This is the statue of Hercules at sunset.

And a sketch from the week.
