South Beach Heat!

I recently went to Miami and my brother and sister-in-law took me to a great Italian restaurant in South Beach on Espanola Way.

Mission at San Juan Capistrano

I found out yesterday that membership to the San Juan Capistrano Mission is tax deductible. Right after that I set up my easel and found out I forgot my palette.  But I had two water buckets with me, so I used one as a palette and limited my colors to yellow ochre and burn sienna (burnt orange).  Next time...who knows what will happen - I can take all year to find out!

Morning Has Broken

I'm not a religious person but the title of this post is not lost on me.  I am grateful beyond words. I painted this from this morning's sunrise at Torrey Pines looking east. I painted it with beautiful, sable, Winsor-Newton watercolor brushes that were given to me by my oldest friend whose father recently passed away. He was a watercolorist too and I am honored to be able to use his tools and continue the work.
