Double Decker
There are several 'double decker' palms in the desert which are actually paired palms. Two trunks grow virtually in the same spot, there is no day light between their trunks. The larger trunk of this pair is in the front and is the shorter of the two.
Just a design note, imagine if both mountains in the background were both tones of blue/brown instead of one blue and one more brown. The painting would be 1000 percent improved for various reasons, most importantly because, the main character of the story is the palm(s) in the foreground, all you need in the background is a couple of shapes that represent distance, i.e. atmospheric perspective.
