Santa Ana Summer Day

It was a hot day - we had a Santa Ana condition with temps well into the 80s so I headed to the beach.  But this time, with pastels instead of oils.   This is my first plein air sketch using pastels.  And it was fun!!!  There is less set up and practically no clean up, and the whole kit weighs much less than my oil painting easel.  This kit is just a tripod, with a cigar sized box - flayed open on it's spine where the pastels are held.  I see more this in my future!
